GREENS Training School 1

GREENS Training School 1

Gothenburg, Sweden • 10–14 November 2025

The GREENS Marie Skłowdowska Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network held its first training event in Gothenburg, Sweden between the 10th and 14th of November 2025. This was the first opportunity for all the partners, supervisors/principal investigators (PIs) and most of the doctoral candidates to meet in person in one location. Other participants that could not make it to Gothenburg also joined the event virtually.

The program featured PI presentations, doctoral candidate introductions, technical talks by PIs and invited subject matter experts, soft-skills workshops, visit to the Swedish Algae Factory and a laboratory tour of some of facilities at the University of Gothenburg, the host university.

Soft Skills Training

A soft skills presentation on networking and problem solving was made by Dr. Jesus Dominguez. He also introduced an Active Matter board game conceived and developed during the ITN Active Matter coordinated by the University of Gothenburg. Once the session was completed, everyone participated in the fun game, understanding what rules bacteria’s motion!

Visit to Swedish Algae Factory

The participants went on a visit to the Swedish Algae Factory. The company is a beneficiary partner in the GREENS network and will host a doctoral candidate and secondments of other candidates. It makes advanced materials from algae, replacing harmful and less efficient chemicals in different applications and products. Professor Angela Wulff and other executives provided guided tours around different areas of the factory.
